President begs for forgiveness at farewell service (Photos)

At the service, Jonathan thanked Nigerians for their support during his administration, begged for forgiveness where he might have gone wrong.

President Goodluck Jonathan and wife, Dame Patience were today, May 17, honoured by the Aso Villa Chapel at a thanksgiving and farewell service held for them, as their stay at the seat of power, Aso Rock is near end.

In his address, Jonathan thanked Nigerians for their support during his administration, begged for forgiveness where he might have gone wrong, while acknowledging that he is not perfect.

“So for the eight (years) that one has been there, definitely one is not perfect. We have certainly done things that probably we wouldn’t have done that way, but we didn’t do things deliberately.

“So for those who we have offended it was not deliberate, it was circumstances of the office. So we also plead that those people should forgive, we think we have done our best,” he said.

The service was the last the couple would attend at the Chapel.
