Gunmen kidnap former President's foster father in Bayelsa

Mr Oru Solomon, a relation of the victim, who also confirmed the development to NAN, said that Jonathan was kidnapped in his house.

Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers, on Tuesday abducted 72-year-old Inegite Jonathan, an uncle to former President Goodluck Jonathan.

According to the Police, Jonathan was kidnapped on Tuesday night, at about 10 p.m. at his residence in Otuoke, Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa.

NAN recalls that the same Jonathan was kidnapped in April 2014 in his house and was freed by Joint Task Force (JTF), Operation Pulo Shield, at Akipli Community.

Asinim Butswat, Bayelsa Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the incident.

Mr Oru Solomon, a relation of the victim, who also confirmed the development to NAN, said that Jonathan was kidnapped in his house.

He appealed to the kidnappers to free the old man, in view of his old age.
