Former Benue Governor hit with fresh corruption charges

Suswam was arrested on February 25 by the Department of State Services (DSS) after firearms were discovered in his exotic cars.

The court has granted ex-governor Gabriel Suswam a bail in the sum of N500m after he was arraigned for illegal possession of firearms.

Suswam was arraigned with his Commissioner of Finance, Mr. Omadachi Oklobia, and then Accountant of the Government House, Mrs. Janet Aluga also as defendants.

The trio were accused of diverting the sum of N9.79billion of the state's money.

They all pleaded not guilty to the charges of fraud, money laundering and financial misappropriation.

Suswam was arrested on February 25 by the Department of State Services (DSS) after firearms were discovered in his exotic cars at his Abuja home.

Suswam recently dropped his lawsuit filed against the DSS asking that he be awarded N10 billion as compensation for unlawful incarceration and violation of his rights.
