Airport officials allay fears of passengers

This is coming on the heels of the announcement by the Department of State Security (DSS) that a plot by Boko-Haram to bomb the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, was uncovered.

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria(FAAN) has re-assured airline passengers of the safety of all the Airports across the nation.

According to Punch Newspapers, a FAAN representative, Mr. Onyekwere Nnaekpe said “The airports are well secured. To say we are now making improvements because something happened can be seen as if we are not ready for such occurrences. The airports are operated under the International Civil Aviation Organisation standards and these international standards are not lowered at all.”

Adding that "The bomb detectors you see at the Abuja airport have been there all along. Even in Lagos, the bomb detectors have been there for over a year and in other major airports. The DSS and other security apparatus have been there as well.”
