Governor vows to punish marketers selling fuel above N145

El-Rufai said this on Monday, February 5, 2018, after the State Executive Council meeting.

According to Daily Post, the Governor’s media aide, Samuel Aruwan said that security operatives have been asked to monitor filling stations in the state.

Governor El-Rufai also warned marketers against diverting petroleum products to black markets.

Aruwan, in a statement issued to newsmen also said that “government has directed the marketers and other stakeholders to ensure that petrol is sold at the official price of N145.

“Security agencies have been directed to monitor petrol stations day and night to ensure absolute compliance.

“Allocations to petrol stations would henceforth be announced in the media, and that government was collaborating with the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) to ensure availability of the product.

“The government extends its sincere apologies to the members of the general public following the scarcity and diversion of the products in the state.

“It is quite unfortunate and I want to assure our citizens that we are working round the clock to resolve the matter.

“I also want to make it clear that all petroleum marketers and other stakeholders must comply with the resolutions of the state executive council in view of this development.”

No plans to increase fuel price

The Minister of State for Petroleum, Dr Ibe Kachikwu, has said that the Federal Government is not planning to increase the pump price of fuel.

A statement issued on Thursday, January 4, 2018 by the Director of Press in the ministry of petroleum, Idang Alibi, clarified the minister's submission made to the joint committee of the National Assembly on Petroleum Downstream.
