10 persons quarantined in Calabar after patient with virus symptoms died

She said blood samples of the patient, who died on Wednesday, October 7, been sent to the Ebola Diagnosing Centre in Benin Edo State.

 

No fewer than 10 persons have been quarantined in Cross River state after a patient with symptoms suspected to be Ebola virus died in the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital (UCTH).

Chairman of  Medical Advisory Committee of the hospital, Dr. Queeneth Kalu, disclosed this to newsmen on Thursday, October 8.

Kalu said those quarantined are mainly nurses who attended the patient and those who came in contact with the patient before he died.

“On Wednesday, 7October, 2015, we managed a patient who presented with symptoms mimicking viral hemorrhage (Ebola Virus) and have decided to take the necessary measures”.

”The following have been informed: National Centre for Disease Control, Federal Ministry of Health,  The Cross River State Government, Calabar Municipality, and the Department of State Security Services, DSS”

She added that the public would be informed once tests results of the deceased are out.
