Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai

Activities of the Boko Haram sect, especially in the northeast, have led to the death of many people with thousands displaced.

Speaking after unveiling some office structures at the Albati Barracks, Lagos, the army chief said the military is collaborating with multinational Joint Task Force to prevent the return  of the insurgents.

“This is a conflict and we have done very well and gone very far," the COAS said.

"We have pushed them (Boko Haram) outside our territory. Those who attack mostly come from outside to attack our people.

“So, we are working with the multinational Joint Task Force to address that. They are very few and they come from across borders,”  he added.

Buratai maintained that negotiation was ongoing to secure the release of the Chibok girls and other Nigerians who are still in captivity.
