President suspends Immigrations boss

Comptroller-General of Nigeria Immigration Service, David Parradang was suspended on Friday, August 21, 2015, for yet unknown reasons.

 

President Muhammadu Buhari has suspended the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), David Parradang.

Parradang was suspended on Friday, August 21, 2015, for yet unknown reasons.

Deputy Comptroller-General, Martin Abeshi, will now be in charge of the NIS, the News Agency of Nigeria reports.

Fear had earlier arisen among the staff and management of the NIS, over the granting of a Nigerian visa to ISIS chief, Ahmed Al Assir.

Reports had it that the Nigerian Presidency felt embarrassed that a man on the international terror list had obtained a Nigerian visa and was on his way to the country.

Buhari subsequently ordered a full scale investigation into the incident.

Assir, who is wanted in several countries, was said to have been arrested at a Lebanon airport on his way to Nigeria through Egypt.
