The names were contained in a letter from the Presidency which was read by Senate President, Bukola Saraki during the plenary session on Thursday, March 30.
The letter reads:
“In the accordance with section 228 of the NDDC Act 2000, I hereby present the following nominees to the board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) for confirmation of the senate of the federal republic of Nigeria.”
“The distinguished senate is invited to note that these nominees are replacement of those that were rejected for not representing the oil producing areas of their respective states.”
The Senate had, on October 11, 2016, rejected the president’s original nominees saying that their nominations were against the NDDC Act.
