President Muhammadu Buhari has formally inaugurated Nigeria’s National Economic Council (NEC).

Buhari inaugurated the NEC today, June 29, 2015, at the Council Chamber of Presidential Villa in Abuja.

During the ceremony, the President promised the governors of Nigeria’s 36 states that under his administration there would be fair distribution of federal funds.
Buhari also promised his government will be characterized by transparency and accountability.
The council, which has the 36 state governors and the Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria as members, is expected to advise the President on the nation’s economy.
