According to Bashir, 12-year-old Nicole Benson had donated her lunch money to the president's campaign 3 years ago when he was a candidate, while 3-year-old Maya Jamal's father had sent a 10-second clip of the little girl praying for the president's health while he was treating an undisclosed illness for three months in London.

Aisha Gebi's uncle, Hussein, tweeted a letter the 10-year-old had written to the president declaring her support for him and requesting a face-to-face meeting with him.

During the meeting, President Buhari thanked Nicole for her contribution of N5,785 which was all saved up from her lunch allowance and pocket money and donated to the president's campaign three years ago.

"Nicole, I congratulate you, and myself for being here today. Your contribution made a great impact. As you can see, I am here in the Presidential Villa. Thank you," he said.

He also expressed his wish to still meet with the children even when he's no longer president of the country.

"I am hoping that it will not be the first and last time we will be meeting while I am here. We will continue to meet even after I have left here," he said.
