Suspected Fulani herdsmen have constantly attacked several villages in Benue state, leaving many people dead and properties destroyed.

According to Vanguard, Tahav Agerzua, the Special Adviser, Media & ICT to Benue Governor, Samuel Ortom said that they expected the President to address the threat issued by herdsmen.

He said “The President was in Benue but failed to address the situation on ground. Some set of people issued a threat six months back to kill Benue people.

“These people did not just execute this threat by killing hundreds of people, they also destroyed property worth billions of Naira and displaced over 170,000 people.

“The Benue people were expecting the president to tell them why these people, who issued these threats have not been arrested.”

While in Benue, Buhari said that he was surprised at the revelation that the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, did not spend 24 hours in Benue, when he directed him to relocate to the state and remain there till peace was restored, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.

He also called on the Benue people to exercise restraint and live in peace with their neighbours.
