Here's why this week's FEC won't hold

The federal executive council meeting won't be holding this week because there are no documents in sight.

FEC is Nigeria's highest decision making body which is often presided over by the president or his deputy.

President Muhammadu Buhari is currently in Daura, his hometown, on a Sallah vacation.

However in a statement just made available to Pulse, Mohammed didn't adduce the president's absence as reason why the FEC will not hold for the second week since Buhari arrived Nigeria from London.

"This week's Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting will not hold due to inadequate time to prepare the documents for the meeting", read a statement signed by Segun Adeyemi who is Special Assistant to Mohammed.

Mohammed also said the two-day public holidays declared for the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations left little or no time to prepare for the weekly meeting.

Buhari, who made a return to Nigeria on August 19 after spending 103 days in the UK on a medical vacation, missed the FEC meeting which held the week after his arrival.

However, on August 30, Buhari presided over his first FEC meeting in a long while.

Before his trip to London on May 7, the Nigerian leader missed consecutive FEC meetings; with Mohammed saying at the time that Buhari will be working from home for a while.

Buhari has been working from a makeshift office since his latest return; after the presidency bizarrely announcedthat the office of the nation's Commander-In-Chief has been infested with rodents.
