Ezekwesili thinks President is a 'divisive and uninspiring' leader

The former minister thinks the president has failed in his role to inspire and influence Nigerians.

Taking to her Twitter account on Monday, October 2, 2017, the former minister said the president failed to use his speech on Sunday to unify the country as a great leader would.

She argued that based on the status of the president's office, he is responsible for being the leader of every group in the country, and shouldn't be dividing the populace.

She tweeted, "So I read OUR President 's Speech and wondered how OUR Leader could be so DIVISIVE & UNINSPIRING on a DAY LIKE THAT.

"As one who need not wave my banner on the faces of HONEST people, I wish Pres had GIVEN A LEADER'S SPEECH.

"LEADER of a country BELONGS TO ALL. There is a HIGH PEDESTAL of a LEADER that is BEST DEPLOYED FOR BUILDING ALL. NEVER DIVIDE YOUR PEOPLE."

The former minister also faulted President Buhari's personality since he assumed office as being a betrayal of him as a presidential candidate.

She said the president needs to better take to independent feedback as against the feedback of his inner circle who might be lying to him.

She posted, "A Presidential system makes much of the "personality" of a President & how they LEVERAGE it to mobilize, inspire & influence their citizens.

Since he became OUR President in 2015, we have not seen much of that LEVERAGE of "the personality of the President" to MOBILIZE & UNITE.

For e.g. as Candidate, Pres spoke often about our Internally Displaced People- IDPs. Why has he NEVER CONSIDERED a VISIT to them?

Those who LIE to Mr President that he is doing well in BUILDING a NATION are UNFAIR to him. The President should take INDEPENDENT FEEDBACK."

Despite her criticism of the president's speech, Ezekwesili commended President Buhari for visiting soldiers of the Nigerian Army at the front line of the war against terrorist group, Boko Haram.

"I am definitely one of those delighted to see that our President visited our soldiers @ the frontline of battle.

"Here is my Shout Out&Gratitude to the DECENT among our soldiers in frontline of battle.God bless you!" she tweeted.

During his Independence Day speech on Sunday, October 1, the president dwelt on calls for restructuring the country and blamed it for the rise in separatist agitations from "highly irresponsible groups".
