8 confirmed dead in fresh Damaturu bomb blast

The explosion occurred at about 1:30pm on Monday, July 20, 2015, when a suicide bomber detonated an explosive at a military checkpoint.

Damaturu, the capital of Yobe State, has again been hit by a bomb blast, emerging reports say.

“Eight people including the suicide bomber died, two security operatives were among the dead. We will soon issue a release,” State Police Public Relations Officer,"Toyin Gbadegesin said.

"I saw the dead body of one police officer and six other people," a witness, Husseini Babura told Daily Trust adding that the bomber had arrived the check point in a Toyota Sienna.

The latest bombing comes just days after twin blasts rocked a praying ground in the capital city leaving 50 people dead.
