Terrorists destroy 60 houses near Chibok

The attack is said to have occurred on Sunday, December 6, 2015, in the village, which is close to Chibok where over 200 schoolgirls were kidnapped in April 2014.

Boko Haram terrorists have destroyed 60 houses in Takulashi Community in Borno State, reports say.

The attack is said to have occurred on Sunday, December 6, 2015, in the village, which is close to Chibok where over 200 schoolgirls were kidnapped in April 2014, according to Daily Sun.

“They were not many, but were very armed, shooting and threatening to kill everybody, but we had fled before they came. They set fire on our houses, even throwing bombs into houses. They burnt down more than 60 houses,” a resident, Bitrus Ali, said.

Ali’s account was partially confirmed by another resident identified simply as David. He however said that more than 100 homes were burnt by the insurgents.

“They burnt more than 100 homes in the village. Only five houses were spared the inferno,” David told AFP.

A community leader in Chibok, Ayuba Chibok said that it’s not yet known if there was any casualty in the attack.

“We will have to wait till everybody is back to know if there were any fatalities in the attack,” he said.

“We are making contacts with the residents who fled to locations where there is a phone network. We thought the worst had happened after Boko Haram rustled over 200 cattle in the village on Friday,” he added.

The terrorists were said to have also stolen foodstuff from the village after the raid.

President Muhammadu Buhari has urged the military to defeat Boko Haram by December 2015 but has said that the deadline can be modified.
