Residents of Auno Local Government in Borno on Wednesday lauded Gov. Kashim Shettima for the rehabilitation of the town after it was destroyed by Boko Haram insurgents.

He said that the state government had awarded contract for the rehabilitation of clinics, and provision of boreholes and dams that would enable adequate water supply.

The District Head of the town, Malam Ali Modu, made the commendation when he spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Maiduguri.
Modu said that residents of the town had started returning after many months of fleeing from the insurgents.
"The government has also provided generator for the boreholes to ensure steady water supply to our community," Modu said.
He appealed to the government to assist in the reconstruction of the Emir's Palace to enable the monarch return to his residence.
