2,000 Chadian troops storm Bosso after terrorist attack

A total of 55 Boko Haram insurgents were killed and many injured following last week's attack in Bosso.

 

A military source has said that 2,000 troops from Chad headed to neighbouring Niger Republic on Wednesday, June 8, 2016 where Boko Haram insurgents inflicted heavy losses in the town of Bosso last week.

The source who craved anonymity noted that the “heavily armed soldiers will search everywhere for Boko Haram."

The attacks began on Friday, June 3, 2016 against a military post in Bosso in Niger’s Diffa region, killing 26 soldiers including two from Nigeria.

A total of 55 Boko Haram insurgents were killed and many injured.

Meanwhile, United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR) spokesman, Adrian Edwards told reporters on Tuesday, June 7,  that“an estimated 50,000 people or so fled the area.”

In 2015, Chad dispatched soldiers to Nigeria, Niger and Cameroon to fight Boko Haram.
