Striking nurses at the Ridge Hospital in Accra have called off their industrial action.

Nurses and midwives call off strike

Nurses and midwives at the Ridge Hospital who embarked on a strike to press home their demand for better conditions of service have called off their day old strike.

This follows the intervention by the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) to help solve the problem.

The health workers withdrew their services on Tuesday due to what they said are unfavourable working conditions.

About 557 nurses and midwives at the Ridge hospital yesterday laid down their tools in protest against the non-payment of their March salaries.

The health workers began the strike on Tuesday, which has caused the shutdown of the Out Patients Department (OPD).

The nurses and midwives are protesting unpaid salaries for the month of March due to mishaps they claim have been created by the Controller and Accountant General’s Department.
