Nigerian troops recapture last major town held by Boko Haram

The last major town under the rule of Boko Haram in Adamawa State, Madagali, has been recaptured by the Nigerian troops.

The last major town under the rule of Boko Haram in Adamawa State, Madagali, has been recaptured by the Nigerian troops, a press statement from the Defence H’Quarters, obtained by Premium Times said.

According to the Director Defence Information, Major General Chris Olukolade, there were no casualties on the side of the Nigerian forces, which included the Army. The Airforce and other security agencies

This victory comes on the heel of several other victories the Nigerian troops have recorded since they commenced an intensive six-week anti-Boko Haram operation on February 14.

The troops had previously recaptured towns and communities in Adamawa, Borno, Yobe and Gombe, including Bara, the headquarter of Gulani Local Government Area of Yobe State, Gulak, the Headquarter of Madagali Local Government Area of Adamawa State.

According to the military, the troops also dislodged terrorists from Shikah, Fikayel, Tetebah, Buza, Kamla and Bumsa, Monguno, Marte, Gamboru Ngala, Dikwa and Baga among others.
