- For years, Star Wars fans have had mystery wondered, and mystery asked: except for one.
- What does a bathroom look like in a galaxy far, far away? Many likely gave up on ever finding the answer.
- But thanks to The Mandalorian, we now know.
Of the many mysteries in Star Wars, how, or where, Boba Fett or Luke Skywalker or Princess Leia go to the bathroom has probably never been super high on you list of wonders. But nonetheless, many have likely had the fleeting thought at one point or anotherafter all, we've never gotten even a glimpse of what an intergalactic bathroom looks like in any of the 10 Star Wars movies so far. But guess what? TV, and Disney+ , clearly have their priorities straight, because it only took 8 minutes and change for us to see exactly what a Star Wars bathroom looked like in The Mandalorian .
In an early scene in the show's first episode , The Mandalorian has captured has bounty target, Mytrhol (a blue human/alien hybrid person played by SNL alum Horatio Sanz ), who says he has to go to the bathroom. In a failed attempt to escape, Mythrol makes his way downstairs in The Mandalorian's ship, and immediately, there it is. "Found it, thanks!" he shouts up. "Might take a while, I'm molting."
And that's when we finally get a good look at it: a god damn space bathroom.
Why this took so long, we may never know. But it is a marvel. No, I don't completely know what I'm looking at (I assume the lever is a flusher, but what is that funnel for?!?!), but still: there it is.
A thread on The Mandalorian's subreddit also dove into the topic of inter-galaxy self-relief. "A decades-long inquiry has been put to rest," said u/Heavyweighsthecrown in his original post, opening the discussion. A user named u/BigBassBone also noted that Wedge Antilles used a urinal in Rebels animated series . But it seems like for live-action, this is the first look we've ever gotten at such an essential piece of life in space.
And honestly? It's kinda gross. Not sure I needed to see that after all. But still, we're here. We did it. We know how Darth Vader takes care of business. Now, we'll just need to see how Kylo Ren does his hair , and then we'll be home free.
