5 Things to NEVER do when in Dubai

As fun and almost wild and free Dubai appears, there are things people get away with in other parts of the world that could land travelers in trouble! Here are some of them...

Dubai has fast become the ultimate luxury destination for shopping, sightseeing and more.

Dubai, a city in the United Arab Emirates with an estimated population of 2.503million people is renowned for its ultramodern architecture and a lively nightlife scene.

With 'wonders' including Burj Khalifa -an 830m-tall tower, the 'Atlantis' a man-made island just offshore, the Palm -a resort with water and marine-animal parks amongst others, Dubai has become a tourist attraction year in year out.

As fun and almost wild and free Dubai appears, there are things (people get away with in other parts of the world) that could land travelers in trouble! For first time travellers as well as those planning to travel to Dubai soon, watch out for these red flags:

1. Never Do Drugs

Dubai is known for its zero tolerance to drugs in anyway. Simply put in Dubai the use, sale or possession of drugs (illegal narcotics) in any way could land travellers in jail. Even prescription/over the counter drugs that are contrabands should not be found on anyone as this attracts severe jail term/punishment.

2. No Loud Singing and Dancing

In Dubai, blaring loud music and dancing in the streets is prohibited. Unless you on an official dancefloor, unnecessary loud singing and dancing should not be entertained in Dubai.

3. No Public Display Of Affection

When in Dubai, the kisses, smooches should be done indoors, inappropriate public displays of affection are deemed indecent! Making out in public (not even sex or smooches on the beach) are entertained. Affectionate displays can get you arrested so it's best to keep emotions locked away behind closed doors.

4. No Drinking in Public

Dubai is quite liberal with a lot things but inappropriate or over consumption of alcohol is frowned at. Foreign residents in Dubai are only allowed to drink alcohol at home if they have a license!

Vulgar language or disparaging remarks attract punishable/serious penalties in Dubai. Stay totally away from blasphemous remarks or utterances that insult muslims.
