Kechi Okwuchi is not letting her scars stop her summer vibes

Sosoliso plane crash survivor and America's Got Talent finalist, Kechi, inspires many with bikini photos from her day at the beach.

All bodies are equally valuable.

This is the message burn survivor, Kechi Okwuchi, preaches ever since she began speaking about her experience. However, she hasn't always felt home in her new skin.

At the Phoenix World Burn Congress, Kechi spoke on acceptance:

"What worried me the most after my accident was the reactions of friends and family. Would they ever be able to see past my scars? Or would they be able to recognize that scars or not, I was the same Kechi they knew and loved?"

Body positivity involves understanding that you deserve to live in your body without receiving or internalizing the prejudice of others — rude comments, reduced economic opportunity, inadequate health care — and working toward a world where no one's body is the target of such bias.

It is an on-going process that requires conscious effort because it doesn't make you immune to the pressures of society.

Today, the America's Got Talent finalist proved this once again, with a trip to Daytona beach and gorgeous photos of her Bikini body. She took to her Instagram to speak about confidence and her growing love for herself:

"It’s been so long since I’ve been to the beach & I gotta say, I found myself feeling more body confident and less scar conscious than the last time I was at the beach, despite being bigger now than I was then, and the crazy thing is I thought I was totally fine then! Lol it’s weird, but good weird."

Kechi Okwuchi's light is indeed an inspiration.

She was one of the two survivors of the Sosoliso Airline Flight 1145 crash on December 10, 2005, which took the lives of 107 passengers. As a result of the crash, Kechi suffered third-degree burns over 65% of her body. She received her first major treatment at Milpark Hospital in Johannesburg, South Africa. In 2015, she graduated from the University of Saint Thomas, in Texas, USA, with a First Class Degree.

In 2017, Kechi stunned America's Got Talent judges with her amazing renditions which always left the crowd in tears, and saw her to the finals.

Her courage, self-love, perseverance, faith, and desire to make lemonade out of lemons makes her beauty shine through, regardless of her scars.
