10 Must-Do Hair Care Tips for Thick Luscious Hair

Hair is known as the crown of a lady, the diadem of royalty. As such it follows that it should be treated with that much respect and of course, love.

Having great looking and healthy hair is a pride and joy; you not only look good but also feel good. Hair that has been well taken care of draws attention to itself and also tells a lot about the individual. To avoid having bad hair days here are some tips for healthy and beautiful hair.

1. Wash Hair Weekly: Washing the hair once a week is adequate. However, over shampooing makes the hair lose moisture and can result in dry scalps.

2. Heating Tools Are A No-No: Using curling irons, blow dryers and hair straighteners directly on the hair should be reduced, as heat weakens the fibers of the hair.

3. Towel- Drying Leads To A Tangle –Fest: It’s better to let the hair dry naturally, for a faster approach try sitting in front of a fan.

4. Hair Shouldn't Be Relaxed Too Often: Ideally, hair should be relaxed every 8 - 10 weeks and then only relax the undergrowth, not the tips. Also remember that split ends should be cut off.

5. Cut Down On Combing: Running a comb through the hair too often isn't good for the health of the hair as it weakens it. Protective measures such as braiding of the hair or weaves should be employed once in a while.

6. Braids Shouldn't Be Too Tight: Braids woven too tight causes headaches and also weakens the hair. Frequent gluing of weaves to the scalp causes hair loss and should be avoided, try the alternative – clip on weaves.

7. Hair Needs To Breathe: Constantly locking it in weaves and braids isn’t healthy for the hair. Time should be given within hairstyles, if not it causes dandruff, hair breakage and hair with foul odor.

8. Conditioning, Steaming and Moisturizing Nurture the Hair: Steaming the hair helps to prevent breakage and also helps in moisturizing the hair. It is advisable to steam with hair after every other retouch. Conditioning and moisturizing hair product are recommended. For moisturizing the best natural products are olive and coconut oil.
