Actor's wife shares how she overcame depression

Sonia Ogbonna let's her fans into how she was able to manage and overcome depression.

The Colombian born model made this known on her Instagram stories on Thursday, August 2, 2018. She was answering questions from fans when she was asked to give an advice on depression.

"I have been depressed for over a year now and I actually cure my own depression by myself. But wisdom I earned in the process was priceless. I became closer to my own self. O became my own superhero. It pushed me to read a lot and do my own researches that helped me understand that no one is in charge of their own comes through my head but me.

"Its all about thoughts. Depression is a bunch of ill sick thoughts that gives us a false idea of helplessness, numbness, and pain. We offer feed depression into existence by giving it too much attention in the process of self-pity. My life changed the moment I understood I was a warrior, not a damn victim. Today I'm actually grateful for the whole experience it helped me discover my own strengths and capabilities," she wrote.

This message indeed will inspire a number of people who are presently going through depression and need help. About a week ago, another celebrity, Waje, shared her depression story and how she was able to handle it.

Waje talks about how she went through depression

Waje has revealed how she went through depression a few years ago and was able to overcome it. The talented singer made this known during an exclusive interview with PULSE. According to her sometimes people confuse anger for depression.

"I remember that time, that was the year we got signed as Glo ambassadors so actually my career was doing really good. I just released my album, I was nominated in four categories in World Music Awards every year, money dey come. But I had anger issues, why because I just didn't see myself the way I wanted to see myself. I saw myself through everybody's eye. I would look at you and whatever you tell me about me is what I would accept.

"I remember one time I was so angry, I didn't want to break my because na me pay for the tv, I broke my phone, can you imagine holding a phone and bending it like literally bending it, you can imagine the rage for being able to break a phone.

"I have come to realise that you have to guard yourself, you have to understand what is going on around you. You are in the limelight, there is Waje and there is Ebele, Waje is now, we are having this interview, Ebele is when I enter my house, don't come and tell me anything that is happening in social media and add to a headache that I already have. The only thing a depressed person needs is your time and love, not your judgment, not telling the person that he has to pray and trust God. Trust me the person knew about that before they went into that state," she said.

Depression is a feeling of severe despondency and dejection. Possible causes include a combination of biological, psychological and social sources of distress.
