Actor posts 1st tweet after divorce news broke

The 42-year-old actor who's currently going through a divorce with his wife of ten years, Jennifer Garner, is obviously not letting his devastating break up deter him from his political interests or social causes

Ben Affleck

Ben Affleck broke his Twitter silence on Monday, June 6 with a cordial tweet at Secretary of State John Kerry, thanking him for appointing Former U.S. Representative Thomas Perriello as the Special Envoy for the Great Lakes Region of Africa.

The 42-year-old actor who's currently going through a divorce with his wife of ten years, Jennifer Garner, is obviously not letting his devastating break up deter him from his political interests or social causes.

The Oscar winner had been staying off social media since news of his divorce broke on June 30 but Affleck has long had an interest in America's foreign policy and political relationship with Africa, and even founded the Eastern Congo Initiative in 2010, so it makes sense that he would want to share his thoughts on the appointment.

Perriello responded to the actor's kind tweet, thanking Affleck and Kerry for their "tireless efforts to draw attention to the region."

Even though it's good to have you back on social media Ben, we would also love to hear if Jennifer Lopez or Margot Robbie had anything to do with you leaving Jen Garner.
