At least one person has been reported injured after police tried to stop a crowd from breaking into a workshop owned by Nigerians.

Police reportedly fired rubber bullets to disperse a crowd targeting a foreign owned garage in Jeppestown in central Johannesburg.

According to Eye Witness News, the shop owners retaliated as the crowd tried to get into the shop.

Reports say anger is mounting in the area as foreigner nationals vow to retaliate against any violence. They say they're earning an honest living and are prepared to return to Nigeria if they continue to be targeted.

At least one man was reportedly stoned while 20 vehicles were damaged in this morning’s attack.

Meanwhile several shops were looted in an overnight attack in central Johannesburg as the attackers promised to chase out all foreigners by the end of the weekend.

Also most vehicles burnt overnight have been stripped and local businessmen are arriving to bargain for car parts.

5 foreigners have so far been killed in this latest wave of xenophobic attacks which reportedly began  following comments from Zulu King Goodwill Zwelithini who called on foreigners to leave the country. He however claims that his comments were distorted.
