A Fast Track Court, has  ruled Ghana Independent Broadcasters Association, GIBA, National Media Commission, NMC and others  should not be beneficiaries of proceeds from GBC's tv license fee collection.

Dr. Charles Wereko-Brobby  was seeking to restrain the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) from collecting TV licence fees if the money is going to be shared with GIBA and the NMC.

The interlocutory injunction after management of GBC indicated they will proceed with the collection of the license fee despite the writ of summons filed on July 29, 2015, against GBC, the National Media Commission (NMC), the Ghana Independent Broadcasters Association (GIBA) and the Attorney General seeking for various reliefs. GBC and the other defendants have developed a formula by which the fees will be shared. GBC will retain 75% and give 4% to the Media Development Fund, 4% to the NMC, 15% to GIBA and 2% to the Film Fund.

Dr. Wereko-Brobby contends that GBC has no right to share the fees with any other entity; because the Fees and Charges (Amendment) Instrument, 2014; LI 2216 only increased the TV Licence Fees but did not authorise GBC to share the fees collected.
