The long-time President has in recent times accused Mujuru, who he says is a witch, of plotting to get rid of him.
The VP and the ministers of energy, education, public service and social welfare, presidential affairs, communication and postal services were among those relieved of their duties.
Mujuru is the first Zimbabwean Vice President to be ejected from office since the country gained independence in 1980. Her four predecessors all died in office.
