Xiaomi has come a long way from being a startup founded in 2010 to becoming one of the major Chinese-grown tech powerhouses. The company makes drones and although it is popularly know for its smartphones, it has now veered into laptops as well.

The company has launched its first ever laptop - the Xiaomi Mi Notebook Air. The design of the laptop shows that Xiaomi obviously wants the Mi Notebook Air to compete with Apple's Macbook Air.

According to the publicity campaign for the launch, Xiaomi alludes that laptop is 13% thinner than the Macbook Air. The pictures also say that the Mi Notebook Air has the same 13.3-inch display as the Macbook Air but its body is 11% smaller body.

Other specifications include a sixth generation Intel Core i5 CPU, 8GB DDR4 RAM, 256GB SSD, and Nvidia 940MX video card for games for the larger variant. The smaller variant has an Intel Core M3 CPU processor with integrated graphics, 4GB RAM and 128GB expandable SSD.

In terms of pricing, the smaller variant will cost about $680 while the bigger variant will go for $750. There is no information yet on when it will be available in Nigeria.
