On Sunday, Nintendo celebrated the 30 anniversary of Super Mario, one of the best-known video games in history, at an event where artistes performed the theme music for the very popular game.

Mario first hit the screens on September 13, 1985 and since then Nintendo has sold more than 310 million units of the popular game.
Creator of the Super Mario series, Shigeru Miyamoto, appeared on stage as a crowd cheered at the music venue that housed about 700 people. A human-sized Mario was also on hand to blow out the candles on a cake.
