Commonwealth Telecommunications Organisation appoints Nigerian as Secretary General

Reports reveal that London-based Commonwealth Telecommunications Organisation has appointed a Nigerian, Mr. Shola Taylor, the Secretary-General of the organisation.

The CTO is an international treaty organisation that supports its members in integrating information and communication technologies to deliver effective development interventions that emancipate, enrich, equalise and empower people within the Commonwealth and beyond.

According to sources, the news was broken by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Communications Technology, Dr. Tunde Olaopa, at the Commonwealth Broadband Forum which opened in Abuja on Tuesday.

According to Punchng, CTO confirmed the appointment in a statement made available to it's correspondent by Marcel Belingue.

According to a report, Belingue said Taylor will assume the new role from September 17.
