The great ones never stay down: The totally legendary Nokia 3310 is making a comeback.

Popular phone leaker Evan Blass (@evleaks on Twitter), in an article for VentureBeat, has reported that the legendary phone is making a comeback scheduled for the end of this month.

The Nokia 3310 was first launched in 2000 - 17 years ago - and literally has an occultic status in the history of mobile phones. In fact, as Fu'ad Lawal puts it, it is the Jollof Rice of mobile phones.

It was extremely durable, had one of the best batteries ever used in a mobile phone and a design that is now considered iconic.

However, it was phased a very long time ago; Nokia lost its market-leading position with the advent of the iPhone and smartphone era and also went into that disastrous deal with Microsoft that saw the Nokia name die a little bit more.

Good thing HMD Global, the Finnish company that is now making Nokia phones, is preparing to relaunch a "modern version" of the 3310, according to various reports.

The resurrection is scheduled for Barcelona, Spain during Mobile World Congress, a mobile industry conference, which starts on February 26.

Blass, who is almost never wrong about his leaks, says the resurrected version of the 3310 will be an "homage" to the legendary phone - but there are no other details beyond that.

The revived Nokia 3310 will reportedly cost $63 (about N20,000) in Europe. It is unclear if it will launch anywhere else. Business Insider reports that an HMD Global representative declined to comment on "rumours or speculation."

If you are wondering if it will have a camera, colour screen, apps, or what kind of OS it is going to run, then you may just have to wait and see what comes of Mr Blass' predictions.
