Anti-hack team over-rides hackers DDOS(Denial of service) attack on INEC's website

INEC's website is back up. Experts say it is a lesson for us to protect our online identity, especially on social media networks.

INEC Website

Early this morning INEC confirmed that hackers had pulled down their website and they were working on it. Sources in the commission who spoke under anonymity, said that the commission's team of IT professional were put on alert to over-ride the attack on the INEC website.

He said the attack was a denial of service attack that was aimed at denying the Nigerian public from accessing the website. He also added that INEC's IT team, had to over-ride a denial of service hack attack used against its system.

INEC is yet to make an official statement that its website is back up, but we visited the website and were able to access the pages without any problem.

There was a general believe that Nigerian youth have not come up to the level of carrying out high level hacking activities. Today's hack attack on the electoral umpire's website is an eye opener, that hackers are near you, everywhere. It is a lesson for us to protect our online identity, especially on social media networks a security expert said.
