Deputy Director (policy and Strategy) for the Buhari Campaign organization, Mr. Bolaji Abdullahi, has called on Nigerians to strive to develop their entrepreneurial skills in order to help boost economic growth in the country.

Adbullahi made the statement in Abuja on Thursday at the Global Action Week Campaign on Education tagged “Vote for Education”, organized by the Civil Society Action Coalition on Education for All (CSACEFA), an indigenous NGO.

The event was organized to review the successes and challenges encountered as far as the Millenium Development Goals (MDGs) are concerned.

Abdullahi said the educational landscape in the country should be changed to reflect the skills Nigerian s possessed rather than the number of degrees they could acquire.

“It is time for the education system in Nigeria to focus on what people can do and not the degrees they have.

“Nigerians and the government should find creative ways to develop the country and our mentality should be changed on how to become entrepreneurs,’’ he said.

Abdullahi also said that for education to improve, the teachers skill set had to be developed extensively and upgraded constantly.

“Nigeria is a country where the parents got better education than their kids instead of the other way round because of inadequate attention to the sector by the government,” Abdullahi said.
