"There Is No Exclusive Party For Good People Or Thieves In Nigeria"

Nuhu Ribadu is defending his recent cross-carpeting from APC to PDP

Its no longer news that former presidential candidate of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) has dumped the party for the ruling People's Democratic Party (PDP).

Word got out over the weekend that the former EFCC boss had jumped ship and now he's defending his move. In a statement delivered through his spokesperson Abdulaziz Abdulaziz to Punch newspaper, the Adamawa state native said there is no exclusive party reserved for thieves or good people in Nigeria.

He said:

"In Nigeria, especially in politics, you can’t say that this is an exclusive party for the people who are thieves or this is for good people. It’s just like saying that all Yorubas are this or all Igbos are this. In every group of people, there must be good people and there are bad people. Of course, the good may be more than the bad or the bad may be more than the good in any group. But there is no any party that is exclusively for the good people or for the bad people.”

He went on to say that Ribadu's defection was not borne out of desperation to rule but rather a zeal to serve the country and its people. "If you are ready to serve the people, sometimes you will have to do something that is not even palatable to yourself" he concluded.
