PDP vows to challenge Lagos governorship elections at Supreme Court

PDP candidate, Jimi Agbaje lost the April 11 election to his counterpart from the All Progressives Congress (APC), Akinwunmi Ambode.

 

The Lagos State branch of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has vowed to challenge the 2015 governorship elections in the state at the Supreme Court.

Agbaje then proceeded to the state election tribunal to challenge the results but the suit was dismissed there and more recently at the Court of Appeal for being incompetent.

The PDP’s stance was revealed by Lagos Chairman, Tunji Shelle during a press conference on Thursday, September 3.

Shelle said:

“In the last elections, we gave the All Progressives Congress a fight for their money. We fought a good battle. We won some while we lost some. But at the end of the day, we are fully convinced that we won the governorship election.”

“That was why we went to the tribunal, the Appeal Court and we are now heading for the Supreme Court. We are more than convinced that we won the governorship election.”

Agbaje had congratulated Ambode after the results were announced and said that he would no longer be seeking public officeafter two attempts at being Lagos governor.
