Minister sympathises with Channels TV over Onuekwusi’s death

Udoma expressed the condolence in a statement signed by his Media Adviser, Mr Akpandem James, on Wednesday in Abuja.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Onuekwusi died at a private hospital in Abuja on Tuesday.

The minister said it must be a very sad and distressful moment for the management and staff of Channels TV,  his operational constituency and the State House Press Corps.

He recalled Onuekwusi that was an embodiment of the Channel’s TV reportorial character with a clear and bold voice on contemporary issues.

“Listening to his interventions and questions during the post NEC and FEC press briefings with the State House Press Corps was always a delight.

“He was always deep, profound and lucid at all times on issues he was passionate about,” said the minister.

He said that Onuekwusi had clarity of thought and courage of conviction which was sometimes laced with a candid sense of humour.

Udoma, however, expressed sympathy to the management and staff of Channels TV and the State House Press Corps over the loss.

He prayed that the almighty God would comfort the family and grant them the fortitude to go through this very sad moment.

Onuekwusi died on May 23 in the early hours of Tuesday at a private hospital in Abuja at the age of 55.

He was a graduate of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka and  joined Channels TV in 1998, where he covered several beats before he was posted to the State House.
