Gov urges security agencies to beef up security in Sokoto State

Gov Tambuwal has tasked security agencies in Sokoto to intensify the security of lives and property across the state.

”The security agencies are, however, discharging their duties diligently and responsibly.

” However, they should do more and be routinely proactive, to further safeguard lives and property of the law abiding citizens,” Tambuwal said.

He spoke in Sokoto when he commiserated with a businessman, Alhaji Nura Gani.

The governor was represented by his Deputy,  Alhaji Ahmad Aliyu.

One of Gani’s shops located at the old market, Sokoto, was attacked in the early hours of Tuesday.

Although there was no loss of life, the hoodlums carted away an undisclosed amount of money and some wares.

The governor pledged the state government’s assistance to all the security agencies.

He expressed the need for community policing, saying,'” the provision of security is a collective responsibility of all Nigerians”.

The spokesman of the state Police Command, Mr Elmustapha Sani, said: ” The police would conduct thorough investigation to unravel the mystery behind the armed robbery incident”.
