FG asks Tribunal for trial date of Senate President

This is coming on the heels of the Supreme Court’s dismissal of Saraki’s appeal, challenging his trial by the CCT.

Punch Reports that the Head, of the CCT Public Relations, Mr. Ibraheem Al-hassan, confirmed receipt of the letter, saying: “I have confirmed from the registrar and he confirmed to me that Mr. Rotimi Jacobs (SAN), wrote the letter, informing the tribunal that the Supreme Court has dismissed the appeal that was stopping the trial from going on. He attached a copy of the judgment to the letter.

“The letter will be considered and a hearing notice will be issued later on.”

Following the apex court’s ruling, the Senate President issued a statement saying he was disappointed by the judgement, adding that he will have his day in court.

The Senate also condemned call by some Nigerians, calling for the resignation of the Senate President.

Also, the Senate Leader, Ali Ndume, said that Saraki, will not resignfrom his position unless he is convicted by the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT).
