Edo Gov-elect pledges loyalty to new Oba of Benin

Godwin Obaseki has pledged his loyalty to the newly installed Oba of Benin, the throne and the royal family.

In a statement in Benin by his Transition Committee’s Media Team, Mr John Mayaki, Obaseki said “my loyalty to the royal family, the Benin tradition and the entire traditional institutions in the state is unalloyed."

“For guidance and advice, I will be counting on the Oba to succeed as governor.

“It is particularly auspicious and most heart-warming that the events leading to the Oba’s coronation are coming at a time when I am fortunate to be the governor-elected of the state,” he said.

He promised that the state’s famous cultures and traditions would be reinvigorated as tourism hotspot and as economic growth for the benefit of the people.

“I see a state where our people will leave in peace and where social justice, equity and fairness shall prevail at all times.

“I am committed to building a better, prosperous and economically sustainable Edo based on cultural cohesion and ethical values,” Obaseki added.
