The Herdsmen Association has called on all members to shun criminal activities or violence in any state of the country.

Fulani Herdsmen

The National President of MACBAN, Alhaji Muhammad Kiruwa, issued the warning in Gusau on Sunday while speaking with newsmen.

Kiruwa noted that some criminals were hiding under the auspices of the association to perpetrate illegal activities which portrayed the association in negative light.

“Miyetti Allah was established to unite the members of Fulani herdsmen to work together and contribute to the development of the country,” he said.

According to him, the association is internationally recognised particularly the way it promotes understanding and peace between farmers and herdsmen.

“As peaceful and law abiding association, Miyetti Allah, always cooperates with government at all levels, security agencies, traditional leaders and all stakeholders to ensure peace and stability and development of our nation.

“It is rather unfortunate that we are misunderstood by the public due to activities of some criminals who have been using our name to carryout criminal activities; we will not tolerate such actions any more.

“I am, therefore, using this opportunity to call on members of this association across the country, starting from the ward up to national level, to avoid relating with any criminal or involving in any criminal activity.

“I am also in calling on them to always be law abiding and cooperate with government and  all stakeholders to improve peace and stability in the country,” he appealed.
