Police massacre suspected cultists, abandon bodies

Report said the SARS men invaded the suspected cultists’ hideout and opened fire on them.

The Rivers state Police Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) have reportedly killed about 26 suspected cult members in a forest around Obesemini community in Egi part of Ogba Egbema Ndoni local government area of Port Harcourt.

Report said the SARS men invaded the suspected cultists’ hideout and opened fire on them on Thursday, May 21. The security operatives allegedly abandoned the corpses of the cultists in the bush.

The state Police public Relations Officer, DSP Ahmad Muhammad, has denied the killings, but a reliable security source confirmed to Vanguard that the massacre was carried out by SARS men.

”The ops was conducted by SARS (Police),” the sourced said.

However, the Police command has placed a curfew on the town, restricting movement from 10pm to 6am Saturday morning, adding that movement would be further restricted from 10 am to 6pm on Saturday.
