17 feared dead in twin explosions

The bombs were said to have been thrown out of a moving car along Bauchi Road, where the University of Jos is located.

At least 17 people have reportedly been killed in Jos, Plateau State after two explosions rocked the city center.

The explosions were believed to have been targeted at students of the institution who had just resumed and were writing exams.

“The first one exploded at the main motor park, the second one was beside the park,” a witness identified as Hurera told Premium Times.

“Casualty rate might be massive because it happened twice in a busy place, Bauchi Road Motor Park at about 6:45 pm,” she added.

Witnesses told AFP that 5 people had died in the first blast while another 12 died in the second.

Some reports have it that a female suicide bomber covered in a hijab was part of the attack but these accounts haven’t been confirmed.

The attack has been confirmed by the Police Public Relation Officer (PPRO) for the state, Emmanuel Abuh.
