Gov. Ishaku inaugurates N1.6bn roads

He assured residents of the area that arrangement had been concluded to install street lights on the roads.

Speaking at the occasion, Ishaku said the 3.74 km roads would boost economic activities in the state.

Earlier, the Commissioner for Works, Dr Tafarki Eneme, said the contract for the roads was awarded to M/S P.W. Nigeria Ltd in 2015.

Eneme said the 1.34 km market road, officially known as Palace Way, was a dual carriageway with reinforced concrete side drains from the Ministry of Works roundabout to Karofi Road roundabout.

He said that the 2.4 km Jolly Nyame Way was a single carriageway with reinforced block work side drains from the SSS office roundabout to the Specialists Hospital gate.

The commissioner said the roads would be maintained by the contractor for 12 months.
