NSCDC arrests 6 alleged illegal miners

It stated that the suspects were arrested at Okpanam village, near Asaba, by the Solid Mineral Defence unit of the command.

NSCDC arrests 6 alleged illegal miners in Delta

The DeltaCommand of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) on Friday said that it had arrested six illegal miners in the state.

This is contained in a statement signed by Mrs Beatrice Irabor, the state commandant, in Asaba.

The statement stated that the suspects had two shovels, five sledge hammers, two motorcycles and five chisels in their possessions.

It said that the arrest was part of the activities of the command to stop illegal mining, and to as serve as a deterrent to other illegal miners in the state.
