Agency seals LASACO Assurance, MTS over tax debts

While LASACO was sealed over a tax liability of N278.5 million, MTS got its gates locked for owing N169.6 million.

According to a statement from the agency, the enforcement exercise led by Anita Erinne, saw the agency sealing off the premises of the top companies over tax debts accruing to over N400million.

Equally affected by the exercise in Lagos was Sterling Assurance, situated at 284, Ikorodu Road for having tax liabilities of N44.8 million.

Others were Fatmark International Limited, which owes N16 million, and LC Divine Link Limited, which owes N13.6 million.

The task force team of the Federal Inland Revenue also shut down tax-defaulting companies in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.

The FIRS team led by Umar Gana, sealed three hotels.

These are Randolph Hotels and Resorts at 101 Old Aba Road, which has a tax debt of N41.032million; Titie Hotels, which owes N17.8million; Sasun Hotels Limited, owing N149.6million. The team equally shut down operations at BMA Nigeria Limited, situated at 7, Bolo Street, Port Harcourt. The company is said to have an aggregate tax liability of N69.2 million.

FIRS continued giant strides

The FIRS under the leadership of Babatunde Fowler has continued to generate income for the Federal Government of Nigeria and giving a new approach to tax payment and collection.

The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), through tax collections, generated the sum of N2.11 trillion as revenue from January to July, 2017.
