Group accuses minister of plotting to frustrate Ekiti's ambassadorial nominee

A group of Ekiti youths have accused ex-Gov Kayode Fayemi of making attempts to foil the nomination of Ekiti state ambassadorial nominee.

Fayemi also told newsmen that his decision to examine the records of Fayose’s government is not with the aim of probing the incumbent governor.

According to the group, Fayemi's decision to thwart Ayodeji's ambassadorial nomination is an alleged move to get his wife, Bisi Fayemi or other individuals' names on the list.

In a statement signed by Segun Fatigun, the President of the Ekiti Concerned Youths, the group said it has unveiled plans by the ex-governor to ensure that Ayodeji is not screened by the senate.

Fatigun said: "It has been discovered that the minister of solid minerals and former governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, recommended three names to the presidency for ambassadorial appointment. They are Mrs. Bisi Fayemi, Prof. and Sen. in that order.

"It was revealed that the presidency expressed surprise that he could have recommended his wife. When investigation on why Lawrence Ayodeji's name was not included was conducted, it was discovered that the minister did not carry anyone along, not even the deputy national chairman of the party (South), Engr. " Fatigun alleged.

Speaking further, Fatigun said, "Recently at the office of the minister, a meeting was held and it was decided that a petition would be written with phony signatures in order to disallow the senate from screening Lawrence Ayodeji, whose name had already been submitted by the President."

Lawrence Ayodeji, a past Nigerian ambassador to Greece, is one of the 46 ambassadorial nominees President Muhammadu Buhari forwarded their names to the National Assembly for confirmation.
