Ex-NSA shows up in court for Metuh's fraud trial

The imprisoned former NSA has finally heeded the court's directive to appear.

Dasuki appeared before Justice Okon Abang's Federal High Court in Abuja in a light blue attire with a cap of the same colour.

The imprisoned former NSA had been served with a subpoena by Metuh's defence team but had met with resistance from the DSS until a Court of Appeal ruling that ordered his appearance.

Even after the ruling, his counsel, Mr. Ahmed Raji (SAN), appeared before Justice Abang on Monday, October 23, to oppose the request to compel his client to testify as Metuh's defence witness.

During the next hearing on Wednesday, October 25, Justice Abang dismissed Dasuki's application on the premise that granting it would amount to breach of the Court of Appeal's order which his court cannot review.

Dasuki is not the only high profile individual to be reluctant to appear before the court as former President Goodluck Jonathan has also raised objection to being subpoenaed, telling the court that his testimony could likely expose him to a criminal charge, penalty or forfeiture.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is prosecuting Metuh and his company, Destra Investments Limited, on a seven-count charge bordering on fraud and money laundering.

The alleged offence involved 2 million dollars and N400 million which the defendants allegedly received from Dasuki's office in 2014.
