'Boko Haram has agreed to bring back missing girls,’ Wakil says

Wakil, who was recently declared wanted by the Nigerian Army over her links to the sect, also said that the group would soon make an announcement about the girls’ fate.

Aisha Wakil

Mama Boko Haram made the comments on Tuesday, August 30, 2016, while speaking to The Nation.

“Since I came back, I have been on their neck. They have now agreed to come out and discuss with the government and bring back the girls,” she said.

“I am for the Chibok girls and all the captives. They are ready for peace. This is what they told me. I think they might post some information on YouTube within 24 hours,” she added.

Wakil was declared wanted by the army on August 14 along with journalist, Ahmed Salkida, and Maiduguri resident, Ahmed Umar Bolori.

The declaration came after Boko Haram released a video showing some of the girls with a terrorist who demanded the release of detained insurgents in exchange for the girls.

Meanwhile, the leader of the Bring Back Our Girls (BBOG) group, Oby Ezekwesili has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to take charge of the proposed plan to rescue the girls and not leave their fate to Boko Haram.
